Chelsie Newkirk, MS, LCMHC

Chelsie is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has also completed the highest level of Neuroaffective Relational Model (NARM) training and is trained in Somatic Experiencing. Chelsie has worked in mental health since 2009. She also worked as a case manager for a domestic violence shelter supporting individuals who have experienced intimate partner violence.

Chelsie is a relational, somatic-oriented therapist who is heavily influenced by her training in NARM, family systems, and attachment theory. Her training and life experience allow her to bring a non-pathological and compassionate approach to her therapeutic relationships. Chelsie finds that many of her clients are wanting deeper, more connected relationships with themselves and others. Her therapeutic approach is to support her clients in having awareness of the patterns in their life that were initially wise and adaptive that are now getting in the way of what they ultimately want for themselves.

Chelsie enjoys meandering in the woods with her highly energetic springer spaniel, Birdie. If Birdie permits it, Chelsie enjoys throwing pottery, reading books, and exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains. She also appreciates when her daring friends or partner are courageous enough to play board games or a willful game of ping pong.
