Intensives

“Experience has taught us that we have only one enduring weapon in our struggle against mental illness: the emotional discovery and emotional acceptance of the truth in the individual and unique history of our childhood.”

- Alice Miller, Ph.D.

Which Intensive is Right for You?

Intensives explore patterns, relationship dynamics, and the historical influences that impact all our relationships.

Finding You for Individuals

Finding You, our flagship program, is a 4.5 day intensive for individuals. This small group, immersive experience is available both in-person and online. Designed to help participants understand the root causes of their issues, participants explore the underlying issues contributing to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting struggles, codependency, and more. Whether you have some experience with therapy and are feeling stuck or are new to therapy and looking for a springboard into your work, this powerful program is like having 6-months of therapy in a few short days.

Finding Connection for Couples

Finding Connection is designed for an individual couple looking for specialized attention to deal with their relationship issues. If you are in conflict, feeling stuck, at a crossroads, or just hoping to improve your connection as a couple, then this is for you.

Finding Connection Multi-Couple Workshop is specifically designed as an immersive multi-couple experience. Couples report finding deeper connection, greater intimacy through skill-building, gaining validation and solidarity through participation with other couples while also improving their personal and couple goals.

Finding Family

Finding Family is a combination of psychoeducation, experiential exercises, and individual and family coaching to provide participants with a profound look into their relationship dynamics and their roots.

Finding Family explores underlying issues and patterns and helps to ease conflict and build skills to navigate life beyond the program. Family therapy can be challenging and our facilitators are experts trained to handle high-conflict, resistant or difficult situations.

FAQs

  • An Intensive is a short, but powerful, therapeutic experience that incorporates the elements of psycho-education, group therapy, mindfulness training, art therapy, and psychodrama (role plays). Finding You Therapy Program Intensives are held both in-person and online.

Intensives gained their name because the therapy done in one of these programs is longer and more frequent than a "typical" 50-minute session. The name refers to the duration of the program, not the emotional intensity of the therapy done.

  • Every Finding You Intensive Facilitator brings their unique education, therapeutic skills and niche to help our participants. All our clinical staff share the same vision that is centered in attachment theory and trauma-informed therapy using evidenced-based practices.

We believe that we are wounded in relationship and we, therefore, heal in relationship. The language of self-love is learned by someone loving us, not from the creation of it within ourselves. Only once we have been loved, validated, empowered, and really seen by another can we do that for ourselves.

  • Finding You Therapy Programs Intensives are unique in that we employ an Attachment-based, trauma-informed approach using evidence based practices which encourages each participant to dig into their own inner-wisdom. We try to "find you" not "fix you".

  • Upon leaving the Finding You Therapy Intensive program, our coaches and therapists will provide you with clear, detailed suggestions to assist in the continuation of your therapeutic journey. Finding You Therapy Intensives also provide all our participants with a free, monthly online alumni support group led by one of our therapists. You will have access to all our archived webinars and our weekly Finding You podcast by Dr. Brad Reedy. Most importantly, our Finding You Therapy Program facilitators can match you with a therapist or coach trained in our philosophy who can build on what was learned in the Intensive for those who choose.

  • We invite you to take a break from technology during your Intensive process so that you may focus more completely on yourself. You will have brief access to your devices when you arrive and again on the last day of the program. We will provide you with an emergency contact number before your arrival and we encourage you to give that number to any person who may need to contact you in the case of emergency.

  • The maximum group size at any Intensive is seven participants.

  • The majority of our programs are held in Northern Utah. Those flying are encouraged to arrive at the Salt Lake City (SLC) International Airport. From there, we will provide you with a free shuttle to and from the program. Location specific Finding You Intensives are also held throughout the year, visiting major areas such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and North Carolina, among others. We can also facilitate customized Intensives in your area upon request.

  • We understand the importance of looking at the whole self while seeking healing. For this reason, we provide opportunities for yoga, walks/runs, time in nature, and meditation. We are intentional about slowing down the pace of every day life, allowing for rest, reflection, and quietness.

  • Our Finding You Therapy Intensives typically begin Wednesday evening to Sunday afternoon (four-and-a-half days total). Family and Couple's Intensives programs vary based upon need but most commonly last for two-and-a-half days. Online Finding You Therapy Intensives run from Friday afternoon to Sunday.

  • We are proud to provide healthy, nutritious, and delicious meals. Snacks and beverages, including coffee and tea, are available during your stay.

Special diet requests or those with food allergies, religious restrictions, and other health-related needs are prioritized. Vegetarian, vegan, and other diet types can be accommodated but should be requested ahead of time.

  • While we do our best to provide private rooms during a Finding You Therapeutic Intensive, it is not always possible. Therefore you may share a room with one other participant. During rooming situations, genders will room separately. Exceptions to this include couples during Finding Connection and Finding Family programs.

  • Our Online Finding You program is a two-and-a-half day program. Family and Couple's programs vary based upon need but most commonly last for two days.

  • Our online programs are a more economical and convenient option for many of our participants. This powerful program does not include lodging, meals, and after hours activities in the same way that an in-person program does. However, the therapeutic effectiveness has been widely noted as on par with an in-person experience.

  • Yes, participants will be responsible for all personal medications during their stay.

  • We strive to create programs that are as inclusive as possible for our participants. In everything we do, health and safety are a priority. As such, we need to recognize the limitations of our facilities, programs, and staff. If you have any special needs, we request that you discuss it with us during the registration process so we can best assess our ability to meet such needs.

  • Finding You Therapy Intensives are gender-expansive and inclusive as we aim to create a safe and welcoming space. We request that gender-expansive participants have a conversation with our team, before the program, to discuss how we can best meet their needs.

  • No. While some of our participants do come to us because they have a child in therapeutic treatment elsewhere, and may be working with a home professional, it is not necessary.

  • We ask that individuals come to a Finding You Therapy Program Intensive without family or friends. This allows our participants to focus on themselves. Those seeking to apply with family or close friends may want to consider one of our customizable private programs, such as Finding Family or Finding Connection.

  • Cancellation by Participant: Program cost minus the non-refundable deposit is refunded up to four weeks prior to the start date. If a Finding You Therapy Program participant cancels between two and four weeks prior to the Intensive, half of the tuition cost is refunded. The full cost of the program is non-refundable if cancellation happens within two weeks of the beginning of the program. There is no refund due to failure to attend without notice.

  • Finding You Therapy Programs does not bill insurance. Many insurance companies will not reimburse participants because, due to the short-term nature of our program, Finding You Therapy Intensives cannot purport to diagnose our participants. Anyone attending an Intensive is responsible for paying the tuition.
